She shook her head. “Demons.” She made the preparations and got her note for her morning rounds. Before she left she put a bottle of glowing white on the night stand besides the demon’s bed. “May it serve you well… The blood moon takes its toll on all of night creatures.”
She hopped in her car and drove off. The route was familiar. All besides the last stop of her duties. The car stopped at a gate of a small castle outside the city. It looked old but smelled new. She pushed the button of intercom. “Umm… Sir Undertaker sent me.” She waited as she was buzzed in. As she took the key out the ignition she realized why her master had insisted she wear a skirt today. A servant opened her door and offered her a hand so she could get out. The mysterious stranger stood on the stairs.
"I heard you had a habit of running off and not being around when you have free time so I thought I’d play it safe and invite you over instead." The lad smiled.
Lumi felt her knees go weak as the man walked up to her and picked up her hand to kiss it. She couldn’t help but blush yet for some reason the image of the demon telling her not to come close came to her mind. She was worried for Sebastian yet so utterly taken in by the man in front of her. “Would you join me for lunch, milady?” The man asked offering his hand. “As you wish, dear sir, it would be an honor.” She slid her hand through the loop his elbow was making and walked besides the lad as he headed around the building. Apparently he was having lunch served outside on a terrace. As they neared the servants picked up covers from the chairs at the table and one from the table. Everything was warm and snow-free. Lumi was mesmerized by all this. Was it really just for her. She almost felt like a princess. Her eyes began to glow white.
Nothing needed to be said from the butler, he knew that she had chosen to go to another man while she ran away from him. Unknowing she hurt him but he couldn’t care less. It’s a choice that she made after all. He went to see the Undertaker to ask about tomorrow. “I heard you allowed me to leave yet I can’t really unless you order me. For most it might just seem like a silly deal or entertainment but to us demons deals mean much more.”
The undertaker was rather annoyed but yet he grinned and said “As my toy thanks to the deal I order you to leave tomorrow.” he honestly didn’t need these extra servants. It disgusted Sebastian as it seemed meaningless.
When Ciel woke up having been in his room the whole time he texted Lumi How are Sebastian and you doing? he put his phone on the nightstand and went back to curl down in his bed. None seemed to have been thinking about him as he felt lonely.
The phone in her pocket vibrated and she was startled. “E-Excuse me. I must see if it’s something urgent.” She pulled her phone out as the man simply nodded. Her fingers slid over the keypad of her phone as she replied. Sebastian’s in a bad shape. He gets home this afternoon if all goes well. I’m out on Undertaker’s orders right now but the last I saw of your butler he dissed me. How are you doing though? I can come over before I head home if you wish. She tugged her phone back into her pocket and returned to the dessert in front of her with a pleasant smile.
"Is everything okay, miss?" The lad wondered.
"It’s nothing. Someone needed some intell, that’s all. Nothing to worry about."
"You run a shady business, dear. Giving strange men intell and working for a mortician. Don’t you ever get tired of it?"
What a strange question that was. Lumi furrowed her brows as she thought about what she was doing for a moment. “I guess it’s just a temporary arrangement so I could one day be with my new family. I lost mine when I was a kid and now I have friends who have taken me in as I was part of their family. I am walking a dangerous line on quite many fronts, that is true.”
"You should maybe be more careful before you break something inside yourself. You are an unique and interesting woman so you are to be valued highly." He took hold of her hand. "Just don’t let those people use your kind nature to make you feel guilty and play you like a marionette. No one should pressure a wild flower to the ground or it will wilt." The man seemed older, almost ancient for a while.
"Umm… thank you, sir. I… I think I ought to take my leave soon. I truly appreciate all this. You have been far too kind to a stranger." She gently pulled her hand away and stood up. With a smile on her face she nodded.
The lad stood up as well. “It has been my pleasure. I wish you would stay longer but I understand the honor in doing one’s duties. I just hope that maybe you won’t stay a stranger and come to visit me again when you have time now that you know where I live.”
He walked beside her to her car. The lad opened the car door for Lumi. “Have a safe drive!”
"You too!" A moment too late Lumi realized her mistake and blushed. "I mean… Have a good day, milord!" The man chuckled and nodded "I will." as he closed the door and watched her drive off.
A few blocks away she parked her car. She didn’t know yet if she should go home and face the demon who had told her to stay away or would Ciel want her company. She rested her head on the steering wheel and closed her eyes as she waited. The back seat was filled with nifty boxes she had to gather from all over the town. Random people to her, random names, random addresses, her master’s suppliers. Her own package waited for her in a container filled with boxes of scripts and documents and Christmas decorations of the old. The shipment had arrived in the shadow of the night and she needed to deal with it soon. Her head was pounding. Too many things to think about. Too many things to resolve. Her relationships with the demons, especially the one with Sebastian… they were getting too complicated. Her mind and body were out of sync. The stubbornness of the butler made it even worse. Why couldn’t he just get over her. She knew that he wasn’t the first or the last demon to obsess over her, to see in her a significant other. Her soul carried that curse. She couldn’t be sure what would come if she gave it up. If any of the demons would love her even if she were a mortal. She bobbed her head back to get the endless fears out of it. The engine purred as she started the car to drive around until she knew where to head to.
As Sebastian was ordered to leave, even though he was bothered by it. Why this deal, if it was only for entertainment. He disliked it yet Sebastian can be cold too. He noticed he was being soft around Lumi nonetheless. It wasn’t like him, he always acted careless yet kind in his own way but he had gone so much further for her. He sighed as he sent a message to Lumi I’m sorry for running off like that, the smell of your blood thanks to Grell had given me the lust to take your soul. I was careless and… I hope you had a good time with your friend.. I’ll say hi to Ciel for you if you’d like. his fingers trembled over the button, why was he so nervous. He pressed send as he left towards Ciel’s manor. He made dinner and surprised Ciel who sadly wasn’t really surprised to see Sebastian as Lumi had spoiled it a bit. “Come now young master, do you really think spending your day in bed is going to make you feel better? I’ve even made your favorite food. Well guess I’ll go eat it alone if you don’t feel like it.” he toyed with him as Ciel jumped out of his bed “Not if I get there first and eat it all!” as the young master was in his kid form he was a lot more agile but Sebastian didn’t race him either. He simply joined him and added some tea to it all.
Time flew by and tons of questions were asked by the young master about the Undertaker’s manor but the most important one ended up being “What’s wrong with you though?” Ciel was worried about his close friend but Sebastian brushed it away “I’ll be fine, having troubles to keep myself away from tasty souls at this time, I hope you won’t have this problem but since you’ve been staying inside it shouldn’t be.”
